Solar Designer (full time, permanent)
**SUMMARY**
We are seeking a talented, technical and communicative individual for an **electrical design and drafting** role as a part of our growing Mexico team. Using AutoCAD and Excel, this individual will create electrical drawing packages for residential and commercial solar and energy storage projects installed in Canada.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Review site photos to determine each project’s specific design requirements.
- Create and revise electrical drawing packages and templates using AutoCAD LT 2025.
- Collaborate effectively with salespeople, project managers and installers to ensure accurate and code-compliant installations.
- Research new and existing solar, battery and electrical equipment though technical documents and communication with manufacturers, determining key features and limitations.
- Become an expert in the Canadian Electrical Code Section 64 to advise salespeople and project managers on code compliance and to coordinate with electrical inspectors and technical advisors as necessary.
- Exercise mathematical and analytical skills to create design systems and solve emergent problems.
**SKILLS**
- Strong ability to quickly and accurately generate single-line diagrams, component schedules, site plans and layouts in AutoCAD, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in AutoCAD’s features and quirks, including use of xrefs and datalinks, general troubleshooting,



creating and maintaining templates, etc.
- Above-average digital organizational skills, especially in document version control.
- Strong grasp of electrical design fundamentals, including conductor and OCPD sizing, conduit and cable specifications, calculations involving volts, amps, watts, watt-hours, etc.
- General experience in developing engineering calculators in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work in a team and handle pressure to meet deadlines.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- 3 years of experience using AutoCAD in a professional drafting setting.
- 1 year of experience in electrical design (solar experience an asset).
- Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
**EDUCATION**
- Undergraduate or Diploma in an engineering-related program (emphasis on design and drafting software a major asset).
