**General objective**:
The Project Accountant II is responsible for providing financial governance and performance oversight across a portfolio of medium ‑ to ‑ high complexity projects. The role ensures accurate revenue recognition, cost control, margin analysis, working capital management, and timely financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation through close ‑ out.
Working closely with Project Managers, Project Controls, Operations, and Finance, the Project Accountant II supports informed decision ‑ making through variance analysis, forecasting, and risk identification, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, contractual terms, internal controls, and regional reporting requirements. The role also supports resolution of complex commercial, tax, and close ‑ out matters and contributes to continuous improvement of project financial performance.
**Main responsibilities**:
**Project & Portfolio Financial Oversight**
- Provide financial oversight for a portfolio of projects, including major projects, studies, and close ‑ out phases, ensuring accurate tracking of cost, revenue, margin, and cash performance.
- Support project close ‑ out activities, including resolution of outstanding commercial, accounting, tax, and compliance matters.
- Support regional and remote offices by managing multiple projects concurrently and coordinating transitions of project ownership where required.
**Revenue Recognition and Cost Control**
- Perform and review percentage ‑ of ‑ completion (POC) calculations for assigned projects, ensuring accurate revenue recognition in line with accounting standards and contractual terms.
- Review and validate month ‑ end revenue recognition, accruals, overhead allocations, foreign exchange adjustments, and gross margin.
- Analyze cost and revenue variances, identify exceptions, and work with project teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
**Month-End and Post Mont-End Reporting**
- Execute disciplined month ‑ end close activities, ensuring completeness and accuracy of project financials.
- Prepare and present post month ‑ end reporting at WPR, including actions related to cost of sales, risks and opportunities (claims / LDs), write ‑ offs, revenue checklists, cash targets, and project close ‑ out actions.
- Support audit, internal review, and governance requirements related to project financial reporting.
**Working Capital & Cash Management**
- Monitor and review WIP, Accounts Receivable, Unapplied Cash, and Collections, ensuring timely billing and cash recovery.
- Partner with Project Managers and Billing teams to address collection challenges and improve cash performance.
- Track and report working capital metrics and support achievement of cash targets.
**Reconciliation and Controls**
- Prepare and review balance sheet and project ‑ related reconciliations,
including Blackline reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Identify and resolve reconciliation differences and support continuous improvement of reconciliation processes.
**Forecasting, Budgeting & Analysis**
- Compile financial inputs for project budgets and forecasts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with operational plans.
- Analyze forecast ‑ to ‑ actual variances and present results and insights to stakeholders.
- Support management decision ‑ making through ad ‑ hoc financial analysis and reporting.
**Stakeholder Collaboration**
- Act as a finance partner to Project Managers, Project Controls, and regional finance teams.
- Support offices with large project portfolios by managing multiple projects and adapting delivery models as required.
- Provide ad ‑ hoc financial support and analysis in response to business needs.
**Requirements**:
At least eight years of experience in Accounting.
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, and data analysis).
Word and PowerPoint.
Able to work independently and complete tasks with mínimal supervision.
**Requirements**:
