**Summary**
We are currently looking for a Buyer 2 to join our team in Toluca. The Buyer - Centralized Raw Material (Steel) is responsible for managing the Centralized Steel Purchasing (CSP) program, ensuring strategic sourcing, pricing management, and supply chain coordination for flat steel materials. This role plays a key part in supporting new vehicle programs, ongoing production, and cost optimization initiatives while maintaining a stable, cost-effective, and high-quality steel supply. The buyer will collaborate with internal stakeholders, mills, service centers, and suppliers to optimize material flow, manage sourcing strategies, and drive cost efficiencies across the supply chain.
**A Day in the Life**:
- Strategic sourcing & capacity planning: Develops data-driven sourcing strategies, balancing supplier capacity, regional compliance, and long-term commodity goals to optimize Total Delivered Cost (TdC).
- Raw material contract & risk management: Leads contract negotiations, renewals, and supplier QCDDM assessments, ensuring agreements align with business objectives and market conditions.
- Supply chain oversight & crisis management: Establishes robust supplier management processes, proactively identifying risks related to capacity, logistics, and quality issues to prevent disruptions.
- Technical competency & cost optimization (VA/VE): Analyzes steel grades, industry trends, and supplier capabilities to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve material performance,
and enhance process efficiencies.
- Business acumen & data-driven decision making: Interprets macroeconomics, market, and benchmarking data to anticipate risks, forecast trends, and drive strategic procurement initiatives.
- Judgment & negotiation excellence: Exercises principled negotiation techniques to secure favorable terms without compromising supplier relationships, leveraging market insights and analytical rigor.
- Cross-functional collaboration & internal support: Engages regularly with NPO buyers, supply chain teams, and regional/integral sourcing partners to align strategies, enhance supplier relations, and ensure compliance with internal regulations (e.g., USMCA).
**Who We're Looking for**:
**Required**:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply chain management, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing, preferably in raw materials, steel, or manufacturing industries.
- Experience with procurement systems, ERP platforms (SAP), and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
- Professional English level (spoken and written); Upper intermediate - Fluent Advanced.
- Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel required for supplier visits, industry conferences, and business meetings.
**Desired**:
- Knowledge of steel grades,
manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics is a plus.
