Colossal Academy is looking for an exceptional **Math Teacher for Preschool and Primary** who can help children develop strong mathematical foundations while learning to think, reason and solve problems independently.
We are a small, innovative international school in Mérida inspired by the **International Baccalaureate (IB), Singapore Math and Reggio Emilia** approaches. Our philosophy combines **academic rigor with a deeply human approach to education**.
Our Approach to Mathematics
Our mathematics program combines the **rigor and progression of Singapore Math with the inquiry, exploration and child-centered philosophy of Reggio Emilia**.
Students move from concrete experiences and manipulatives to visual representations and increasingly abstract mathematical thinking. At the same time, mathematics is connected to meaningful experiences in the world around them.
Students might:
- Develop number sense and mathematical fluency
- Use manipulatives to understand mathematical concepts
- Explore patterns, shapes, measurement and spatial relationships
- Collect, organize and interpret real data
- Develop mental math and problem-solving strategies
- Explain and defend their mathematical reasoning
- Explore multiple ways of solving a problem
- Work at an appropriate level of challenge based on their individual development
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong understanding of mathematics and how children develop mathematical thinking




- Is interested in or experienced with **Singapore Math**:
- Understands or is interested in the **Reggio Emilia approach to learning**:
- Values academic rigor without relying exclusively on memorization or worksheets
- Can make abstract mathematical concepts concrete and understandable
- Enjoys using manipulatives, investigations and real-world problems
- Can differentiate instruction for different levels of mathematical development
- Encourages children to think independently and explain their reasoning
- Is warm, patient, intellectually curious and deeply respectful of children
- Enjoys collaborating across disciplines
