QA Testing Lead - Workday HCM & Payroll
We are seeking a senior, hands-on **QA Testing Lead** to lead the complete testing lifecycle for a **Workday HCM and Payroll** implementation.
This role will define the QA strategy, coordinate all validation phases, and directly execute functional, integration, regression, UAT, and parallel payroll testing.
**Work arrangement**: 100% remote from Mexico
**Contract duration**: 6 months (possible extension)
**Schedule**: Minimum four-hour overlap with Eastern Time, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
ET.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and execute the end-to-end testing strategy, master test plan, and execution roadmap.
- Lead testing phases including Prototype, SIT, E2E, UAT, Payroll Parallel, Regression, and Stabilization.
- Create detailed test scenarios and scripts for Workday HCM, Payroll, integrations, and hire-to-retire processes.
- Execute two parallel payroll cycles, comparing Workday results against the legacy payroll system.
- Identify, document, and resolve discrepancies involving earnings, deductions, taxes, and payroll outputs.
- Validate integrations using EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, APIs, and file-based interfaces.
- Manage the complete defect lifecycle, including logging, triage, prioritization, root-cause analysis, and resolution tracking.
- Coordinate UAT sessions with HR, Payroll, and Operations teams.
- Validate employee records, payroll inputs and outputs, and financial mappings.
- Develop QA dashboards and executive-level reports covering progress, defects, risks, and dependencies.
- Support post-go-live stabilization, regression validation, and the first production payroll cycle.
- Build reusable test scripts, templates, reconciliation tools, and other QA assets.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in HCM systems testing,



implementation, or functional consulting.
- Proven experience leading the complete QA lifecycle for enterprise HCM or ERP implementations.
- Strong hands-on expertise in **Workday HCM and Workday Payroll**.
- Experience testing earnings, deductions, taxes, and payroll reconciliation processes.
- Proven experience executing parallel payroll cycles and owning formal sign-off.
- In-depth knowledge of integration testing using EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, APIs, and file-based integrations.
- Strong experience creating test plans, scripts, traceability matrices, and defect logs.
- Experience leading UAT across cross-functional business teams.
- Proficiency with Jira, Smartsheet, ServiceNow, or similar defect-management tools.
- Advanced English proficiency for daily collaboration with U.S.based teams.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a hands-on role and take full ownership of testing outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Puerto Rico payroll regulations and requirements.
- Experience in retail, distribution, or organizations with large hourly workforces.
- Familiarity with Legion WFM, Kronos, UKG, ADP, or similar workforce management platforms.
- Experience collaborating with third-party system integrators on Workday implementations.
