Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Heightened sense of accountability and urgency.

3 to 5 years of experience in automotive industry.

Ability to properly define a problem. Determine ICE and PCA together with the technical and management team, with minimal supervision.

Clear understanding of mechanics, electricity, electronics, and thermodynamics, and the interactions happening at component - system to - vehicle level.

Problem Solving Green Belt Certification.

Hands on experience resolving hardware problems on electrical machines, electrical systems, vehicles, ECUs, or development benches, the SWAT ROOT CAUSE ENGINEER SR is expected to have hands on ability to be an independent element.

Able to lead and organize his day-to-day priorities, according to pilot build schedules, problems found, and due process for issue disposition.

Excellent written and oral communication.

Dexterity using testing equipment, oscilloscope, multimeter, logging devices.

Automotive DTC troubleshooting experience.

Medium to advanced programing skills.

Previous experience executing a test plan.

Previous experience developing test cases, for electronic systems.

Bench, HIL, VHIL experience for running test cases and performing disposition, of issues found.

Familiarity with EOL process for automotive products, component and complete vehicle.

Job Description





The root cause engineer is the responsible to perform the first level analysis for conditions related with the electrical and electronic components in Stellantis automotive systems at vehicle, system and component levels.

SWAT ROOT CAUSE ENGINEER SR is capable to handle tasks like daily reviews for status reports, and lead the team for accountability and disposition with the purpose to update Q team Leads and upper management.

The environment where the engineer will be working are mainly Stellantis assembly plants, vehicle yards, automotive system hardware in the loop setups, rolling benches, plywood bucks, and other properties used for development, as well as customer vehicles and production vehicles.

The SWAT ROOT CAUSE ENGINEER SR will provide guidance and lead the technical discussions with both the technical and management teams, organize meetings looking for the proper condition disposition with the solving team.

The SWAT ROOT CAUSE ENGINEER SR will drive disposition and report, properly escalating to have ICAs, immediately applied to the assembly line preventing to fail cars for conditions known.

Ensure the tracking and final solution implemented at plant, follow up until clean point is provided.

In the early development phases, SWAT ROOT CAUSE ENGINEER SR, should be able to collect the diagnostic data required to process the product through the plant system and interface with the manufacturing, IT and Vehicle Process Engineering, Vehicle Production, and Quality teams.





The swat engineer will participate in tasks to prepare the plant to build and process prototype vehicles, provide guidance and troubleshoot capacity for the electrical end of line process at the assembly plants, with focus on "issue contention for next vehicle" philosophy.

The SWAT ROOT CAUSE ENGINEER SR will use the tracker tool for the issues found on the early development stages of the properties used to validate the systems and continue tracking the issues as they evolve during the different phases from Mule, PWB to vehicle launch.

The Engineer will support a variety of launch activities at assembly plants and pilot plants, conduct repairs, perform customer audit testing, participate in management update meetings, investigate problems found on early prototype engineering vehicles and coordinate interim and long term solutions with the component releasing engineers and its management.

- Is expected that the SWAT ROOT CAUSE ENGINEER SR can lead yard activities, set a basic triage activity for repair campaigns, follow up the activity and determine resources necessary, asses risk level for engineering actions, asses risk level for warranty related to reworks at plant, or yards.
