R&D; Mechanical Engineer / Designer
A Snapshot of Your Day
As an R&D; Mechanical Engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, designing and developing high-voltage products from concept to manufacturing. Your day will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, defining and executing test strategies, and ensuring that products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability. You will play a key role in bringing cutting-edge solutions to life while supporting production during product industrialization. How You’ll Make an Impact - Design and develop complex mechanical modules and components, ensuring performance, cost, and timeline targets are met—from prototype to series production. - Define and execute qualification and validation tests for high-voltage substations (e.g., breakers and switches), including first article inspection (FAI) parameters. - Analyze test results, identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate with quality and testing teams to implement enhancements.
- Drive problem-solving by developing autonomous solutions and escalating critical issues to project management when needed. - Support production ramp-up locally and globally, ensuring smooth transition from development to manufacturing while complying with EHS, quality, and management systems. What You Bring - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering. - 3+ years of experience in product design and development, preferably in electrical equipment or high-voltage products. - Proficiency in Creo (ProE) and PLM Agile, with solid technical understanding of engineering design processes. - Professional working proficiency in English and/or German; openness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally. - Strong soft skills including communication, teamwork, leadership mindset, and emotional intelligence. About the Team You will be part of the R&D; team for Air-Insulated High-Voltage Circuit Breakers within Grid Tec
