Analytics Engineer – Data Engineering & Power BI
Location: Remote – Mexico
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: Up to $90,000 MXN gross per month
Experience: 10+ years
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Analytics Engineer with strong experience across both Data Engineering and Analytics/Reporting.
This is not a Power BI-only role. The adecuado candidate will be comfortable owning data solutions end-to-end — from understanding source data and building transformation pipelines to developing reliable analytics datasets and creating well-designed Power BI dashboards.
We are looking for someone who is data-first, highly hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with clients and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and enhance data pipelines and transformation workflows using dbt, Python, and Airflow DAGs.
- Develop clean, reliable, and reusable data models for analytics and reporting.
- Work extensively with SQL and cloud data warehouse platforms to investigate data, troubleshoot issues, and implement transformations.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and DAX measures.
- Translate business requirements into appropriate data models and reporting solutions.
- Perform data analysis, validation, reconciliation, and data quality checks.
- Troubleshoot data issues across the entire pipeline, from source systems through transformation and reporting.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and independently drive them through development, testing, and completion.
- Work closely with business, analytics, engineering,
and client teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
- Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity, analysis, development, and problem-solving.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, BI, or related areas.
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
- Strong Python experience for data pipelines, complex transformations, and integrations.
- Hands-on experience with dbt and/or modern ELT/data transformation practices.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, including dimensional modeling, fact/dimension structures, and analytics datasets.
- Experience with a modern cloud data warehouse, preferably Snowflake.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including:
- Data modeling
- DAX
- Dashboard and report development
- Semantic models
- Performance optimization
- Experience working with Airflow DAGs and data pipeline orchestration.
- Ability to understand unfamiliar datasets, identify relationships, detect data quality issues, and determine transformation requirements.
- Experience debugging and supporting existing data pipelines and analytics solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and data quality.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor while collaborating with a team.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
- 100% hands-on with the technologies and responsibilities described above.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who is equally comfortable:
- Writing SQL, dbt, and Python transformations.
- Building and troubleshooting data pipelines.
- Investigating data and identifying data quality issues.
- Designing analytics and dimensional data models.
- Working with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
- Building or modifying Power BI reports and DAX measures.
- Translating business requirements into technical data solutions.
- Communicating directly with clients and stakeholders.
- Taking ownership of work and delivering completed, production-ready solutions.
You should be able to ramp up quickly, understand an existing data environment, work independently, and take ownership from development through delivery.
