Salary: From MXN $41,766.67 to $60,141.67 gross per month , depending on the candidate’s experience and position level.
Annual gross compensation: From MXN $501,200 to $721,700 per year .
About the Role
We are seeking a Database Administrator with strong MySQL experience to support a major U.S.-based education technology company.
This position focuses on the administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance, availability, backup, recovery, and continuous improvement of production database environments.
The idóneo candidate has hands-on experience supporting MySQL databases in production and understands database performance, SQL troubleshooting, indexing, replication, high availability, backup and restore procedures, and incident resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support production MySQL database environments.
- Monitor database availability, performance, capacity, security, and resource utilization.
- Troubleshoot slow queries, locking, connections, indexing, memory, CPU, storage, and database performance issues.
- Analyze SQL queries and execution plans and recommend performance improvements.
- Manage database upgrades, patching, maintenance, and configuration changes.
- Support backup, restore, disaster recovery, replication, and high-availability procedures.
- Investigate database incidents and participate in root cause analysis.
- Work with Software Engineering and Cloud Operations teams to improve application/database performance.
- Develop scripts and automation for recurring database administration activities.
- Maintain database documentation, procedures, and operational standards.
- Participate in production support and scheduled on-call rotations when required.
- Senior candidates may mentor other DBAs and contribute to architecture, standards, capacity planning, and technical decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional database administration experience.
- Strong hands-on MySQL administration experience .
- Experience supporting databases in production environments.
- Strong SQL troubleshooting and query optimization skills.
- Knowledge of indexing, execution plans, transactions, locking, constraints, and database performance.
- Experience with backup, restore, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Knowledge of database monitoring and performance troubleshooting.
- Experience with Linux, Windows, Ubuntu, or similar operating systems.
- Scripting experience with Bash, Shell, Python, PowerShell, Perl, or similar technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Professional English communication skills.

Eligibility
Candidates must be currently located in Mexico, legally authorized to work in Mexico without employer sponsorship, able to work under the hybrid model in Guadalajara, and possess professional English communication skills.
