**Job Description Summary**:
You will serve as a key technical lead guiding the launch readiness of stamping and body shop operations. This role requires you to coordinate cross-functional teams, validate manufacturing systems and tooling, and ensure flawless execution of program milestones. You’ll work on-site at designated GM Stamping Plants, supporting stamping launches, and ensuring seamless integration into production environments.
The role calls for disciplined project tracking, structured communication, and proactive issue resolution. Your impact will be visible through successful trial events, production ramp-up, and deliverable completion across multiple rollout phases.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Stamping Shop Support.**
- Lead stamping-specific launch deliverables, coordinating across Capital Projects, Layout integration, and Process Readiness.
- Facilitate development and transition of stamping assets from design to plant execution.
- Drive Adecuado Cycle Rate (ICR) requirements and ensure validation of Body Line (BL) and Weld Line (WL) scanning criteria.
- Oversee Tryout events including Tool corrections, Part adjustments,
and formal PAR/PAPP documentation.
- Die Development & Validation
- Participate of die buy-off for assigned tooling, tracking timing, and engineering changes.
- Collaborate on die and fixture design reviews, container readiness, and stamping feasibility assessments.
- Represent stamping in ICR/Part Handling Forums to optimize material flow and process ergonomics.
- **Body Shop Support.**
- Drive quality through reviews of jewel radii, hemmer assemblies, GSQE data collection, and painted panel inspections.
- Engage with 4-Walls and Quality Leads during ETAC reviews to ensure consistent body panel quality alignment.
- Participate GCA reviews.
- **Communications & Planning**
- Build and execute communication plans using standard launch tools (Launch Wall, Scorecards, Tracker).
- Lead plant roll-out strategy sessions at critical intervals (Weeks -150, -90, -50, -25).
- Support creation of Pre-SMT presentation with Die Lead.
- Attend GCA reviews and represent Stamping progress and risk mitigation updates.
- Ensure proper closure of open issues through structured follow-ups and plant rollouts.
- **Program Management & Compliance**
- Manage launch activities with plant launch team and report the launch status thru all the channels of communication.
- Track metrics and progress using Scorecards, Launch Trackers, and Expense Reports.
- Maintain accurate working hours and exception in TMaCs.
- **Process Improvements**
- Identify and implement best practices in safety, waste reduction, and quality assurance across Tryout operations.
- Assist with Lessons Learned documentation to inform future launches and avoid repeat issues.
- **Leadership & Coordination**
- Define and assign roles using the approved Launch Template and coordinate day-to-day activities of launch team members.
- Train team members in stamping processes, tooling inspection, and documentation protocols.
**Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)**
- Familiarity of press load evaluations, automation sequencing, and part transfer technologies.
- Experience with die troubleshooting and change implementation across various phases of build cycles.
- Familiarity with Zebra Striping, GSQE methodology, and Jewel Radii inspection standards.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate cross-functional teams and manage deliverable handoffs.
- High proficiency in structured problem solving, statistical analysis, and design interpretation.
- Skilled in oral and written communication to deliver launch reports, technical summaries, and executive briefings.
- Availability to travel over 80% of the time.
**Education and Training Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related field.
- Journeyman status from Tool & Die training programs is highly preferred.
- Solid background in die design, tryout processes, stamping simulations, and part handling strategies.
- Familiarity with corporate systems such as PTAS, PRM reporting, and ILM compliance protocols.
