EarthDefine is seeking a GIS Technician who possesses a strong technical background in GIS/geospatial processes. The successful candidate will provide GIS support through data processing, data management and analysis, process automation and will help manage client projects through project planning/delivery, setting the technical direction, and communicating with clients.

Job Responsibilities

- Design and implement procedures for large-scale land cover classification projects.
- Develop data products related to Remote Sensing and GIS projects.
- Provide direct oversight of a team. Help establish project goals and standards, and aid team members in achieving those.
- Communicate product standards and company policy with team members; provide feedback and offer assistance to team members.
- Help coordinate resources and staffing for various ongoing projects.
- Perform QA/QC on spatial data products.
- Communicate project updates to clients and partners.
- Research, identify and consolidate geospatial data from multiple sources for input into classification workflows (imagery, Lidar, demographic data, road networks etc.).
- Create and update geoprocessing scripts.
- Create project documentation and metadata for deliverables.
- Research new approaches to address geospatial data development challenges.

What We Are Looking For





- BS/MS preferably in GIS or Remote Sensing disciplines with strong analytical skills OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with object-based image classification and spatial modeling.
- Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to quickly and efficiently learn applications, systems, policies, and procedures.
- Experience managing a team in a fast-moving business.
- Experience with any major geospatial platform (OSGeo stack, ESRI, ENVI, PCI, ERDAS, GRASS, etc.).
- Experience with automating processes through scripting (Python, ArcPy, IDL, etc.).
- Experience in end-to-end geospatial data processing using data from multiple sources including multispectral imagery and Lidar.
- Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects and deliver project outcomes.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with a team.

Job Location Remote. Must work in one of the following time zones:

Pacific Time, Mountain Time, Central Time, Eastern Time, Atlantic Time

Position Duration

This is a full-time, contract position.

Starting Salary

Gross pay of MXN 15500 or USD 750 per month (whichever is higher).
