**Lead English Teacher for Upper Elementary**
**Colegio IMI (Instituto México Inglés) | Zapopan, Jalisco**
**Location**: Cvln. Medas 488-A, Altamira, 45160 Zapopan, Jal.
Two blocks from Plaza Patria, near Bosque Los Colomos
**Schedule**: Monday to Friday, **7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.**
**Essential Requirements**:
We are looking for a teacher with **strong pedagogical training, advanced English proficiency, real classroom experience in elementary school, and solid knowledge of teaching and learning strategies.**
**Bachelor’s degree completed** in one of the following areas:
- Elementary Education
- Pedagogy
- Educational Sciences
- Educational Intervention
- Educational Innovation
**Professional degree and valid professional license are mandatory**:
- (Título y cédula competente obligatorios in Mexico)._
- **Advanced English proficiency**, with the ability to conduct classes, give instructions, explain content, and communicate effectively with students in English.
- **Minimum 1 year of classroom experience in elementary school.**:
- Upper elementary experience is preferred.
- English certification is desirable**:TOEFL, Cambridge, TKT, Teacher Training, or equivalent**.
**Strong command of teaching and learning strategies for elementary students, including**:
- Classroom management and a positive classroom climate.
- Lesson planning with clear learning objectives.
- Activation of prior knowledge.
- Modeling, guided practice, and independent practice.
- Differentiation according to students’ learning styles and pace.
- Formative assessment supported by evidence.
- Development of critical, creative, and self-regulated thinking.
**Main Responsibilities**:
The Lead English Teacher will be responsible for creating **structured, meaningful, and bilingual learning experiences** for upper elementary students.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Design and implement English lesson plans considering students’ age, level, and learning styles.
- Conduct classes in English, promoting listening comprehension, oral expression, reading, writing, academic vocabulary, and critical thinking.
- Create a safe, organized, and motivating classroom environment where students feel accepted and clearly understand what they are expected to learn.
- Work with a **CLIL/CLIC approach** (**Content and Language Integrated Learning / Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenidos y Lengua Extranjera**), using English as a means to learn content and develop communication skills.
- Design learning experiences aligned with **Challenge Based Learning** within the **Knotion** methodology.
- Promote thinking processes such as comparison, classification, analysis, inference, problem-solving, decision-making, and research.
- Assess student progress through rubrics, evidence, portfolios, and individual follow-up.
- Foster critical, creative, and self-regulated thinking habits: clarity, precision, perseverance, open-mindedness, planning, and a positive response to feedback.
- Prepare students for English evaluation and certification processes.
- Collaborate with academic coordination, school leadership, and the teaching team.
- Participate in classroom observations, professional feedback, and continuous training.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, organized, and bullying-free classroom environment.
