VOLCANIX AUTOMATION is seeking experienced Controls & Robotics Engineers with strong BIW (Body-in-White) background to support automotive projects across North America, primarily with General Motors and other OEMs.
This role involves working on automotive body shop systems, including robotic welding cells, framing stations, and high-speed automated lines. Candidates must be comfortable working on-site in demanding production environments and supporting launches, integrations, and troubleshooting activities.
Responsibilities
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Program and integrate industrial robots inBIW applications (spot welding, handling, sealing)
- Commission and debugbody shop equipment and robotic cells
- Support production launches, cycle time improvements, and downtime reduction
- Integrate robots with PLC-controlled systems and safety devices
- Work with welding systems (spot welding, projection welding, stud welding)
- Perform system validation, buy-offs, and customer acceptance tests
- Troubleshoot electrical, controls,



and robotic issues on-site
- Collaborate with controls, mechanical
- Production teams

Required Skills
Controls Engineering:
- Strong PLC programming experience
- Platforms:
- Allen-Bradley (RSLogix / Studio 5000)
- Siemens (TIA Portal)
- Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet)

Robotics (BIW Focus):
- Experience with industrial robots such as:
- Fanuc
- KUKA

Experience inrobotic welding applications (spot welding highly preferred)Strong commissioning and troubleshooting skills in body shop environmentsMandatory Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in BIW (Body-in-White)
- Experience withGeneral Motors standards (GCCS / GRS)

or
