The Company

A venture-backed launch vehicle developer building a new medium-lift orbital rocket, with a light-lift pathfinder vehicle establishing the manufacturing and test foundation ahead of it. The engineering team is made up of people who have built and flown orbital hardware at established US and European launch companies, and the programme carries both institutional government backing and commercial investment.

The engineering philosophy is deliberately unglamorous. A single engine that scales through clustering rather than redesign, proven technology over novel architecture, and a test-early culture that catches problems on the bench rather than at the pad.

THE ROLE

A fluids analyst who is as comfortable with first order hand calculations as with running CFD or writing their own analysis code.



You would work across design, analysis, development, operation and reuse scenarios in a fast-moving development environment.

This is a hands-on individual contributor seat for someone who wants to be close to the detail, make consequential design decisions, and establish the propulsion and stage fluids systems of an orbital launch vehicle programme from the ground up.

What You’ll Do
- Analyze fluid transients, water hammer, priming, two-phase flow, cavitation, flow-induced loads, and feed system coupling across engine and stage fluid systems.
- Perform thermal-fluid analysis of cryogenic propellants including chilldown, boiloff, and thermal conditioning.
- Run trade studies on system architecture and operating points to inform design decisions.
- Develop and validate pressurization system models (autogenous, helium, or self-pressurizing) to size pressurant requirements and predict ullage behaviour.
