Authority
- The Engine Room Supervisor is specifically responsible for the operation and maintenance of Engine Room equipment and systems and the competence of those under immediate supervision.
- Assistant Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Operators, visitors, vendor technicians, and sub-contractors.

Accountable For: Responsibilities & Standards
- 1) Engine Room Equipment and Systems and Utilities Operation and Maintenance
- 1 Prepare Engine Room Plant and Systems for start-up, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
- 2 Start and Monitor Engine Room Plant and Systems, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
- 3 Prepare and Shutdown Engine Room Plant and Systems, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
- 4 Isolate and reinstate Engine Room Plant and for Maintenance,



including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
- 2) Manage And Supervise Effectively
- 1 Establish effective relationships with colleagues and subordinates.
- 2 Establish scope of work clearly (briefings, toolbox talks, presentations).
- 3 Plan and control use of resources effectively. (Personnel, time, materials, transport, IT).
- 4 Use of communication skills shows leadership (oral, teambuilding, recording, noting, handover, analyzing.
- 5 Promote training and competency assurance throughout the department in line with Company goals for the Unit.
- 6 Encourage and support all department personnel to achieve training and competency targets and plan for appropriate time allocation for this area of work.
- 7 Objective and consistent in assessment of subordinates using competence assessment system.
- 8 Make recommendations and improvements in working practices for greater safety, efficiency and profitability.
