This role is office-based in Mexico. The role requires professional fluency in English (spoken and written).
We are seeking an experienced IBM AIX Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize AIX-based infrastructure in a mission-critical enterprise environment. This role requires deep expertise in IBM Power Systems, AIX OS administration, and associated technologies such as PowerVM, HACMP/PowerHA, and storage integration. The adecuado candidate will ensure system reliability, performance, and security while supporting business-critical applications.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Technical (40%)
- Perform system installations, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
- Manage logical partitions (LPARs) using PowerVM/VIOS.
- Implement and support high availability solutions (PowerHA / HACMP).
- Manage storage integration (SAN, NPIV, MPIO) and backup solutions.

Administrative (40%)
- Proficiency in AIX system internals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with backup/recovery tools (e.g., BRMS, TSM/Spectrum Protect).
- Administer,



configure, and maintain IBM AIX operating systems on IBM Power Systems.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure system security compliance, including patch management and auditing.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting (ksh/bash).
- Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to support enterprise platforms.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and incident resolution.
- Manage ServiceNow ticket queue.
- Participate in on-call rotation for production support as needed.

Project Management (20%)
- Be the point person for team projects when required including: Scheduling, Documentation, Ticket Approvals, etc.
