OVERVIEW
The Higher Education Program Officer, Spanish Language will be part of USCRI’s Higher Education for Complementary Education Pathways Program, conducted in its Aguascalientes field office and implemented across Mexico. The Higher Education Program Officer, Spanish Language is responsible to administer the follow-up processes and implementation of the Intensive Learning Course for Spanish Language and Academic Integration (CIAERA in Spanish). This position will report to the Higher Education Program Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the Intensive Learning Course for Spanish Language and Academic Integration (CIAERA in Spanish);
- Revise and update the operations procedures for the CIAERA course;
- Conduct classes for the students in the CIAERA course;
- Implement pre-CIAERA course orientation to incorporate the selected students for the higher education complementary pathways program (non-Spanish speaking) before arriving in the country;
- Follow up on class times and material needs;
- Draft progress reports on students regarding the established objectives of the CIAERA course;
- Establish follow-up and evaluation procedures for students and teachers; and
- Facilitate logistics for classes (time, space, materials).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in education, teaching, language instruction or a similar field; Master’s degree in education, teaching, language instruction or a similar field preferred;
- Minimum of three (3) years of work or collaboration with student or civil society organizations, universities,



international or government organizations regarding migration, human rights or vulnerable populations;
- Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian response, for refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and/or other vulnerable populations;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to government funders, donors, clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience, multicultural staff, community partners, and volunteers;
- Exceptional time management, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, financial systems, and database programs; and
- Commitment to USCRI’s values including demonstration of respect for others and appreciation of a multicultural workplace;
- Must pass a criminal background check and other screening requirements; and
- Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
- Spoken and written Spanish and English is required.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
