About the Role
Nidec AMEC is seeking an experienced and highly motivated **Controls Engineer** to join our team in Ciudad Juárez. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, programming, and troubleshooting control systems for our manufacturing processes. You will play a critical role in ensuring optimal machine performance, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement in our automation systems.
**Please note**: This position requires continuous interplant mobility to support operations across our two facilities in Ciudad Juárez.
Key Responsibilities
- **System Programming & Troubleshooting**: Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems to ensure efficient and safe manufacturing operations.
- **Interplant Support**: Travel seamlessly between the two Nidec AMEC facilities in Ciudad Juárez to provide immediate technical support, address equipment breakdowns, and lead upgrades.
- **Process Optimization**: Analyze current automated processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement control strategies to increase throughput, reduce scrap, and improve product quality.
- **Maintenance Collaboration**: Work closely with the maintenance and production teams to resolve complex electrical and control issues, and develop preventative maintenance routines for automation equipment.
- **Project Management**: Support new equipment installations and commissioning, ensuring all control systems meet company standards and safety regulations.
- **Documentation**: Maintain up-to-date electrical schematics, PLC logic backups, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications & Requirements
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic,



or Automation Engineering (or a closely related field).
- **Experience**: A minimum of **5 years of proven experience** as a Controls Engineer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- **Language**:Advanced English proficiency** (fluent in both spoken and written communication) is strictly required to collaborate with international teams, vendors, and corporate stakeholders.
- **Availability & Schedule**: Must have a highly **flexible schedule** to support 24/7 manufacturing operations, which may include occasional weekend, on-call, or off-shift support as production demands dictate.
- **Mobility**: Willingness and ability to move freely and regularly between the two Nidec AMEC plants located in Ciudad Juárez.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Strong expertise in programming and troubleshooting major PLC brands (e.g., Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
- Proficiency with HMI programming, motion control, and VFDs.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Devicenet).
- Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical).
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.
