XPENG
Ciudad de México
【Position Summary】
XPeng is establishing local tax leadership in Mexico to support importer of record activities, and dealer-network rollout of our Mexican subsidiary. We are seeking a highly experienced Local Tax Manager to take full ownership of direct and indirect tax compliance, e-invoicing (CFDI) operations, cross-border transaction advisory, and Permanent Establishment (PE) risk mitigation. This role is the single point of accountability for the relationship with SAT and is a critical control for the company's import, distribution, and aftersales tax posture.
This is a standalone country-controlling role — you are the only in-country tax professional for Mexico and operate as the single point of contact for all tax matters in country. You will partner closely with the HQ Global Tax Team in Guangzhou, China, and a designated external tax advisor (Big-4 / local firm) to cover the full scope. Comfort with operating as a "one-person tax function" and building a virtual team via external advisors is essential.
【Key Responsibilities】
1. Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of corporate income tax (ISR), VAT (IVA), and withholding taxes.
- Coordinate monthly/quarterly closing from a tax perspective, including tax provisions, deferred tax, and effective tax rate analysis.
- Manage the local tax calendar and ensure no late filings, late payments, or material penalties.
2. E-Invoicing (CFDI) & Digital Tax Compliance
- Lead the maintenance and compliance of the local electronic invoicing platform (CFDI 4.0), ensuring full alignment with SAT requirements and seamless data integration between China IT systems and the Mexico business/finance teams.
3. Tax Audits & Controversy
- Act as the primary point of contact for SAT and external tax advisors; manage tax audits, inquiries, and VAT refund processes.
- Build a strong documentation and evidence trail to support tax positions and reduce risk of assessments.
4. Stakeholder & External Advisor Management
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and SAT officers. As the sole in-country tax professional, building and managing a high-performing external advisor panel is a core part of this role (Big-4 for complex matters, local firm for routine compliance).
- Define the split of work between in-house and external advisor; be the one accountable for the advisor's output.
- Proactively engage HQ Global Tax on complex matters (e.g., transfer pricing controversy, large tax assessments, cross-border structuring) — flag risks early and align on positions before acting.
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, IT, HR, and business leadership to embed tax considerations in day-to-day decision-making.
职位要求:
【Qualifications & Experience】
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Law, or related field. CPA (Mexico) or Master's in Tax is highly preferred.
2. 6–8 years of tax experience in Mexico, ideally within a multinational manufacturing or automotive company. Big-4 experience in Mexico tax compliance is a plus.
3. Deep technical knowledge of Mexican tax law, CFDI 4.0 regulations, and international tax concepts.
4. Demonstrated experience managing SAT audits and successfully defending tax positions.
【Languages & Soft Skills】
1. Fluent in Spanish and English (professional working proficiency) — Spanish for SAT,
English for HQ and group reporting.
2. Mandarin is a strong plus (not required) — XPeng is a Chinese-headquartered general EV company; Mandarin ability enables closer collaboration with HQ.
3. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills across cultures and time zones.
4. Self-starter mindset — comfortable operating as the only senior tax voice in country.
XPENG offers:
- An interesting, unique and very varied job at XPENG
- A job with an incredibly large contact surface both internally and externally
- An attractive salary package incl. pension and with the possibility of a bonus
- To be involved in the growth of an existing EV brand in Europe
