Position Summary As an EDS Design Release Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, releasing, and maintaining wire harness designs for automotive programs. You will collaborate closely with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time while meeting customer specifications, manufacturing requirements, and Yazaki engineering standards. Depending on the business model, you may be responsible for wire harness routing and packaging, component selection, engineering change management, production release activities, and technical customer support throughout the product development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Product Design & Development Develop and release wire harness designs based on customer requirements. Perform routing, packaging, retention, and protection design in 3 D CAD environments. Prepare and maintain 2 D drawings and engineering documentation. Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, DFA and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements. Perform Engineering Change Impact Analysis and implement design modifications. Manage engineering changes and customer change requests. Maintain customer part release systems and engineering documentation. Coordinate engineering releases and support production implementation.
Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as the primary engineering interface with customers for technical topics. Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, launch activities, and change control meetings. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Costing, Sales, Systems Engineering, Quality and Validation teams. Validation & Production Support Support prototype builds, vehicle launches, and production trials. Participate in Design Verification (DVP&R;) activities. Troubleshoot engineering issues and determine root causes. Support manufacturing plants during production and launch activities. Identify cost reduction opportunities through VA/VE initiatives. Support warranty reduction and process improvement projects. Promote engineering best practices and knowledge sharing. Additional Responsibilities (Senior Level) Mentor and coach junior engineers. Support technical leadership activities and act as backup for engineering supervisors when required. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering discipline. Master's Degree preferred for Senior or Principal positions. Experience Entry Level: No experience required. Mid-Level: 2–6 years of relevant experience.
