E 6-12+ Months Contrac iew We are seeking an experienced Media API & Cloud Engineer to architect, implement, and optimize Google Cloud's Media API suite.
In this role, you will build robust data workflows and backend engineering logic to support high-quality live linear broadcasting, dynamic monetization via Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI), and efficient, scalable video processing.
You will also be responsible for maintaining system health, resolving technical escalations, and writing clear developer documentation and reference implementation
ns.Key Responsibili tion Google Cloud Setup: Set up, configure, and manage Google Cloud Livestream, Video Stitcher, and Transcoder API resources within the GCP environm ent.
Backend Logic: Develop backend logic to interface with Google Cloud Media APIs, including authentication, request structuring, and response pars ing. Workflow Design: Architect end-to-end media data pipelines connecting input media streams, processing APIs, and downstream storage/delivery endpoi nts.2.
Maintenance, On-Call & Optimiza tion System Health: Codebase maintenance to meet Google Cloud product service standa rds.
Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve complex issues related to live stream health, SSAI failures, and media encoding err ors.
On-Call Support: Participate in product on-call rotations to handle customer escalations within strict S LAs.
Performance Tuning: Optimize configuration settings to lower latency, improve stream efficiency, and optimize resource co sts.3.
Technical Documentation & Enable ment Code Snippets & References: Write functional code snippets and reference implementations (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js) demonstrating API functional ity.
Developer Guides: Produce comprehensive documentation, including internal wikis and step-by-step guides for stream initiation, ad marker insertion,



and transcoding templa tes.
Developer Onboarding: Document end-to-end setup processes to streamline onboarding for future team memb ers.Key Deliver ables Production Code: Fully built, tested, and deployed software following Google best practices and coding stand ards.
Unit Test Suite: Comprehensive unit testing covering both success and failure execution paths for all developed code.
Patches & Updates: Ongoing bug fixes, security patches, and functional upd ates.
Issue Management: Prioritized bug triage based on user impact, including documented severity levels and resolution n otes.
Technical Documentation: Up-to-date design docs, PRD requirements, developer guides, and tracking in the bug data base.
Qualifications & S kills Required Technical Expe rtise Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Hands-on experience with core GCP services and specifically the Google Cloud Media API s uite: Livestream API: Live linear broadcasting and event stream manage ment.
Video Stitcher API: Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) for VOD and live str eams.
Transcoder API: Batch video processing and adaptive bitrate packa ging.
Programming Languages: Proficiency in backend development using Python, Go, or Nod e.js.
Video Streaming Standards: Familiarity with video protocols (HLS, DASH), dynamic ad insertion markers (SCTE-35), and video encoding/transcoding princi ples.
Testing & Code Quality: Strong commitment to unit testing, test-driven development (TDD), and clean code stand ards.Soft Skills & P rocess Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills for video pipeline, latency, and encoding fai lures.
SLA Management: Experience handling technical support, customer escalations, and on-call rotations under SLA constr aints.
