The Component Development Engineer is responsible for the development of the components for the new programs
The Component Development Engineer is responsible to forward and coordinate customer and program requirements to all areas of OPmobility's and to OP’s suppliers
Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints
Unusual hours and travel may be required
This is a salaried exempt position
RESPONSABILITIES
Responsible for the development of the assigned Components for the new programs
Responsible for the definition of the system architectures that include the assigned component
Support OPmobility’s Customer centers for the understanding of the specifications and for the key meetings with the OEM
Responsible for establishing the Component Technical Specifications based on the OEM specifications and the additional requirements from OP
Manage the technical discussions with the suppliers:
Check conformity of the technical solutions with the specifications
Work with the Program Application Engineer for approving the interface with the fuel tank
Maintain the open issue list
Approve the design of the components and release the drawings
DVP&R; and DFMEA approval
Analysis of the test results and corrective actions
ACTIVITIES
Act as expert for consultation to fellow associates and customers with regards to the sub-functions of the assigned components
Support the Purchasing Department for the quoting of new programs
Support the Purchasing Department for the development of the supplier base
Lead the benchmarking of the assigned component
Survey technology trends and lead strategic development plan for the assigned commodity
Lead VAVE / cost reduction plan for the assigned commodity
Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities
Must successfully complete all Plastic Omnium required training
Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures
Must comply with all safet
