**Overview**
We are an early-stage, venture-backed fintech that focuses on bringing affordable credit and financial services to small business owners across LatAm - starting with Mexico.
We have launched a unique group loan product - and are in the process of launching a credit card business, which will be an important part of our overall company.
To date, Grupago is able to serve micro-SMBs as a result of three key innovations - community distribution, group collateral, and AI-driven underwriting.
- Community distribution: Grupago acquires community leaders online, who then build lending groups in their local communities. This allows the company to reach rural and otherwise hard to reach customers via its unique and cost effective online-to-offline acquisition approach.
- Group collateral: Borrowers join together as part of lending groups and co-sign for each other’s loans. When a payment is missed, other members are responsible for repayment. This approach allows Grupago to profitably collateralize an otherwise uncollateralized customer segment, as well as build much more robust underwriting data than individual loans.
- AI-driven underwriting: Grupago harnesses the power of AI including non-traditional data sources to underwrite small loans. Over time, they systematically expand credit limits as customers demonstrate successful repayment histories.

**Requirements**:
We are looking for a hard-working and highly entrepreneurial and experienced person to join as a founding team member.
The company currently provides loans, and will be expanding to launch a unique credit card product soon - this role will have leadership of both.
We are looking for someone who has a rare combination of:




- Scaling highly effective / high performing teams within a leading credit card business, and
- Working in a very small, scrappy startup environment and thriving with limited resources
You will be the right hand partner of the founder to help lead all major aspects of the business - including:
- Risk management / customer screening
- Collections
- Customer service
- Essential credit card operations responsibilities
We are looking for someone who has significant demonstrated experience successfully managing a large credit card portfolio at a leading credit card provider.
We are also looking for someone who is entrepreneurial and willing to roll up their sleeves, achieve very strong results with limited resources, and loves building new businesses from scratch.
Your main responsibilities are to:
- Oversee all major aspects of operations for our business
- This includes risk management/screening, collections, customer service, and core customer operations
- It also involves ensuring our company runs smoothly across all major areas of operations Conduct financial analysis and reporting across loan cohorts, track KPIs, and conduct other financial analysis to support the business
- especially focused on unit profitability
Experience
We are looking for a credit leader experienced in running sophisticated credit card and loan programs.
- Successful track record of leadership roles in the credit card and lending industry
- at leading credit card providers and/or fintechs in Mexico
- A strong track record of overseeing operations at high performing teams
- Significant experience in credit card operations, collections, risk management
- Fluent in business English & Spanish
- Previous work experience at a startup or other fast moving, highly entrepreneurial work environment
- (Ideally) Deep expertise in financial analysis and modeling
- (Ideally) Experience leading or participating in debt fundraising in capital markets in the Mexico and/or the US
