We are seeking an experienced Non-Profit Accountant to support the financial operations of a small, community-focused nonprofit organization in the Chicago area. The idóneo candidate will have experience with nonprofit accounting, grant reconciliation, and financial reporting while maintaining accurate and organized financial records.
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Responsibilities
Reconcile bank accounts and financial records.
Track and reconcile grant funding with organizational expenditures.
Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budgeting.
Manage general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
Assist with financial audits and year-end reporting.
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting policies and grant requirements.
Collaborate with leadership regarding financial planning and reporting.
Qualifications




Previous experience in nonprofit accounting required.
Proficiency with QuickBooks and Aplos Accounting Software is required.
Experience reconciling grant funding and restricted funds.
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience preparing financial statements for nonprofit organizations.
Knowledge of nonprofit grant management and reporting requirements.
