In this key role, you will serve as the strategic link between manufacturing operations and enterprise information systems. You will be responsible for leading the support, configuration, optimization, and project integration of SAP modules (including PP, MM, FICO, SD, and QM) and operational systems. Working with a high degree of independence and self-direction, you will ensure proper system utilization, drive operational efficiency, and maintain strict compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and EN ISO 13485 standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- SAP Functional Configuration: Lead the configuration of SAP functions based on business requirements, defining technical specifications, conducting system testing, and executing successful implementations.
- System Maintenance & Support: Provide ongoing technical and functional troubleshooting and support for SAP applications. Analyze technical issues to identify root causes and implement effective, lasting solutions.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within supply chain, production control, and materials management utilizing SAP functionalities.
- Operational Project Management: Lead SAP and operations-related projects by coordinating cross-functional teams and managing project timelines, resources, deliverables, and risk mitigation.
- Governance & Training: Develop training materials, conduct user training sessions, and maintain comprehensive documentation, including SAP configurations, process flows, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Compliance & Traceability:
Ensure operational processes—such as production control, non-conforming material tracking, material traceability, import/export, and New Product Introductions (NPI)—comply with quality and regulatory frameworks.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience working directly with SAP systems, modules, and operational processes in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in configuring, implementing, or supporting key SAP modules:
- PP (Production Planning)
- MM (Materials Management)
- FI/CO (Finance and Controlling)
- SD (Sales and Distribution) / QM (Quality Management)
Regulated Industry Background: Proven experience operating within medical device or pharmaceutical environments governed by FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485.
Operational Knowledge: Hands-on expertise in production control, material traceability, non-conformance management, and cross-functional operations with finance.
Languages: Advanced English proficiency (fluent in technical communication and written reporting).
Desirable Skills & Competencies
- Official SAP module certifications or Project Management (PMP) certifications are a plus.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills for complex operational workflows.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across all organizational levels.
