Why this role exists
Charles, our founder, spends most of his week talking with the owners of short-term rental property management companies. Five or six of those conversations get recorded every week, and almost nobody sees them. Your job is to change that. You'll take everything he says on camera and turn it into the newsletter, clips, and posts that make him the best-known voice in this industry. He hits record and reviews your drafts once a week. Everything in between belongs to you.
About HostGenius
HostGenius is a private membership network and business operating system for short-term rental property management companies. More than 70 member companies managing about 3,000 properties run on our platform. Charles scaled his own property management company to 160 listings before starting HostGenius, so when he talks about this business, operators listen. We're profitable and growing fast, and this role turns his daily conversations into a growth channel.
What success looks like
A year from now, thousands of US property managers read our weekly newsletter. Clips go up on Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube every week, and every word sounds like Charles wrote it himself. He spends under two hours a week on content once the cameras are off. The sales team uses proof clips you found. The ads team runs creative you handed them. When we host an industry event, you stretch one week of recording into three months of material.
What you will own
- Turning raw recordings into published content. You pick the moments worth keeping, cut clips with Riverside's Magic Clips, and write the hooks and captions.
- Final copy for the weekly newsletter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube. Our AI pipeline produces first drafts for you. You run it, check it, and edit everything until it sounds like Charles.
- The publishing calendar. Everything ships on time every week without anyone chasing you.
- The weekly review with Charles. One approval pass.
You ship what he approves and rework what he flags.
- A weekly scoreboard: what shipped, newsletter growth, engagement from presente property managers, and which clips went to the ads team.
- Freelance editors, once long-form YouTube outgrows Magic Clips. They cut, you direct.
Not in scope: paid ads (our Growth Marketing Manager owns Meta), long-form video editing (we will outsource it), and inventing strategy from scratch. The system is already designed. Your job is to run it every week and keep making it better.
What we are looking for
Required:
- 3+ years running content production end to end for a company, founder, or creator, with published work you can show us
- Written English at a native level. You'll be ghostwriting a Canadian founder, and if your copy needs a second edit before it ships, this isn't your role. Finalists complete a paid writing test in his voice.
- Good instincts for short-form video. You can listen to an hour of conversation and know which 40 seconds will stop someone scrolling.
- The discipline to run a publishing calendar for months without missing a date
- At least 4 hours of daily overlap with Pacific Time
- You use AI tools daily for speed, and you catch what they get wrong
Nice to have:
- Experience marketing to small business owners, or in real estate, hospitality, or short-term rentals
- You've grown a newsletter on beehiiv, HubSpot, Kit, or similar
- Podcast or webinar production, or familiarity with Riverside.fm
- Enough design sense to make covers and carousels in Canva
Compensation
$2,500 to $3,500 USD per month as a full-time contractor plus up to a 30% annual bonus. This is a long-term role with upside as the media engine grows.
How to apply
- Apply here on LinkedIn and answer the screening questions. Make sure your resume or profile links to 2 or 3 pieces of content you personally produced. We read every application that includes work samples and skip the ones that don't. Finalists complete a short paid writing test.
