Job Engineering Technician (Production) Grade A Fire Control Systems: Electronician : Department Of Defence – CareerVacancies.co.za Written by www.careervacancies.co.za The South African Navy is recruiting for three (3) Electronic Engineering Technicians to be based at Naval Base Durban. This is a permanent public service position with an annual salary range of R391,671 to R418,332. The role requires a National Diploma in Engineering (or relevant qualification) coupled with three years of post-qualification technical experience.

Mandatory requirements include compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technician and a valid driver’s license.The successful candidates will be responsible for the planned maintenance, repair, and testing of electronic systems and equipment.

Key duties involve interpreting technical drawings, maintaining service records, ordering spares, and ensuring compliance with the Occupational Safety Act. Essential skills include technical report writing, proficiency in computer-aided technical applications, project management, and problem-solving.Applications must be submitted on the official Z83 form, accompanied by a detailed CV, and sent to the specified address or email by 16:00 on 23 June 2025. Requirements National Diploma in Engineering or relevant qualification

3 Years post qualification technical experience

Valid driver’s license

Special requirements (Skills needed): Electronic technician experience would be an advantage

Proficiency in spoken and written English

Technical report writing

Conduct planned maintenance of electronic systems

Repair electronic systems and equipment





Conduct testing of electronic systems and equipment

Ability to interpret technical drawings and information relating to electronic systems

Computer aided technical applications

Knowledge of electronic maintenance and repair procedures

Knowledge of electronic test equipment and calibration procedure standards

Project Management

Decision making, problem solving and analysis skills

Knowledge of technical design and analysis

Knowledge of Legal Compliance

Research and development

Mentoring and coaching.

Duties

Execute duties in according with time frames as per allocated job cards

Execute maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with laid-down standards and procedures

Interpret Technical Drawings and Work Dossiers

Record keeping of electronic equipment failures, order available spares and service record

Knowledge of Occupational Safety Act and safe operating procedure.
