Company Overview Our client is a U. S.-based accounting and advisory firm supporting construction and home services businesses. The team works closely with contractors across multiple trades, helping clients improve financial accuracy, system setup, and operational visibility. This role focuses on high-level onboarding, historical cleanup, and accounting structure within integration-heavy environments.
Position Overview The Accountant will own the cleanup and onboarding of new client books, with a strong focus on correcting historical accounting issues and improving data integrity across systems. This is a senior-level accounting role for someone who can work independently, diagnose root-cause issues, and execute accurate cleanup without heavy oversight. The idóneo candidate has strong Quick Books Online expertise, understands U. S. GAAP, and has hands‑on experience supporting construction or home services clients.
Key Responsibilities
Own onboarding and cleanup of new client books from initial review through corrected setup
Clean up historical Quick Books Online files, including multiple years of inaccurate or inconsistent accounting work
Rebuild and clean balance sheets by correcting underlying transactions, not just posting journal entries
Review and reorganize charts of accounts to eliminate redundancies and improve structure
Review large transaction sets to identify inconsistencies, recommend corrections, and recategorize approved items
Perform bank, credit card, loan, and accrual reconciliations across multiple cleanup periods
Reconcile Quick Books Online with external ERP and project management systems used by clients
Review and repair integration issues between Quick Books Online and systems such as Service Titan and Buildertrend




Review chart‑of‑accounts mappings from integrations and provide recommendations for improvement
Support accurate data flow across accounting and operational systems so financial records match across platforms
Use project tracking and class tools to help produce P&Ls; by department or job
Transition into ongoing bookkeeping and accounting support when needed, based on performance and business needs
Qualifications Required Qualifications
3+ years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience in construction, home services, or similar service‑based industries
Strong understanding of U. S. GAAP and U. S. accounting practices
Expert‑level experience in Quick Books Online, including cleanup, reconciliations, and automation tools
Experience using and Gusto
Experience cleaning up historical books and resolving balance sheet issues at the transaction level
Experience rebuilding or reorganizing charts of accounts and correcting accounting structure issues
Experience reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and accrual‑related balances
Experience working with integration‑heavy environments between Quick Books Online and operational systems
Experience with Service Titan
Experience with Buildertrend
Experience with Carbon
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and resolve accounting discrepancies independently
Ability to work from a high‑level checklist and execute accurately with minimal oversight
Strong attention to detail, ownership, and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting ongoing bookkeeping after onboarding and cleanup phases
Experience producing P&Ls; by department, class, or job for contractor‑based businesses
