Position Overview The Backend/Full-Stack Developer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend architecture that powers one of Mindgruve's strategic digital product initiatives. This role is responsible for building secure, scalable, and high-performing backend services, APIs, integrations, and data pipelines that support customer-facing applications and business-critical operations.
Working within the Product Engineering team, this position will own the server-side architecture, API design, third-party integrations, and backend services that enable seamless digital experiences across multiple branded environments. The role also contributes to platform reliability, security, performance optimization, and operational excellence while collaborating closely with Product, Frontend Engineering, DevOps, and Data teams.
This is an ownership-focused engineering role designed for experienced developers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, designing scalable systems, and building software that directly impacts customers and business performance.
What You'll Do Here
- Backend Application Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting high-availability web applications.
- Build robust APIs and backend functionality that power customer-facing experiences.
- Ensure applications follow engineering best practices for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- API & Platform Architecture
- Design and evolve GraphQL and REST APIs while maintaining backward compatibility.
- Develop backend models, services, and business logic supporting multiple frontend applications.
- Contribute to architecture decisions that improve scalability and long-term platform sustainability.
- Integrations & Business Systems
- Develop and maintain integrations with payment providers, communication platforms, search services, authentication providers, and additional third-party technologies.
- Ensure secure, reliable, and resilient communication between internal systems and external partners.
- Troubleshoot integration issues while continuously improving reliability and operational efficiency.
- Data Management & Platform Operations
- Design and optimize relational data models, database performance, and migration strategies.
- Build and maintain backend processes supporting data synchronization, migrations, analytics, and reporting.
- Monitor backend health while improving performance, reliability, and operational stability.
- Engineering Excellence
- Write clean, scalable, secure, and well-documented code.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve development standards, testing practices, automation, and platform reliability.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, UX teams, DevOps, QA, and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and implementation strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.ntend best practices throughout development.
We Need a Person With
- Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Preferred:Master's degree or specialized certifications in Backend Engineering, Cloud Computing, Software Architecture, or Distributed Systems.
- Experience
- 4+ years of professional experience developing backend applications.
- Strong experience building production-ready APIs and backend services.
- Experience working with cloud-based architectures and distributed systems.
- Experience integrating third-party services and enterprise platforms.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
