The NSW Thoroughbred Racing Board, known as Racing NSW is responsible for leadership and regulation of thoroughbred horse racing in NSW and also the registration of racehorses nationally. The prospects of working at Racing NSW are exciting and include opportunities within: Stipendiary Stewards

Racing Co-ordination Panel Vacant positions are advertised on our web page Employment Opportunities. At Racing NSW we look to foster and develop staff both within Racing NSW and across the industry including new entrants to the Talent Identification Program. We support and encourage staff through our induction and mentoring program and continuing education.

In conjunction with Approved Industry Training Providers, traineeships are available as a Stipendiary Steward, Licensing and Registration Whilst traineeships do not guarantee a permanent appointment after completion, trainees who show ability and potential are usually successfully appointed. Many of our Stewards have started their career this way. Cadetships are also offered from time to time, to applicants who show great promise, and perhaps are more mature, having completed tertiary studies and worked elsewhere.

Traineeships are highly sought after positions, where overall skills and experience are critical to the selection process. Successful applicants demonstrate knowledge and experience in many facets, some of which are listed on our web page Tips for Working at Racing NSW . Alternately some of our staff - particularly some of our stewards - have started their careers interstate before being appointed to the NSW Panel.





Other applicants successfully enter the industry through race clubs such as the Australian Turf Club. We also encourage traineeships in the industry through licensed employers as trackwork riders and stablehands and educational programs using Approved Training Providers . These are organised through our Industry Training department.
