Core Description The Legacy Systems Migration Developer is responsible for leading and supporting a critical database migration initiative, including the redesign and migration of Microsoft Access front-end applications and data into modern enterprise systems. This role works closely with other development staff, IT staff, and Product teams to ensure data integrity, continuity of business operations, and delivery of scalable solutions. Areas of Focus Accountable to the Director, Software Development and internal stakeholders and is responsible for contributing to the creation and upkeep of software solutions.
Operational
- Create, develop,
manage, and maintain applications.
- Set specifications for new applications in conjunction with the Product Manager, Data Services Team and Infrastructure Team.
- Write high quality source code to program complete applications.
- Develop functional and non-functional testing as part of the development lifecycle for the Enterprise applications.
- Analyze existing Microsoft Access front-end forms, queries, macros, and VBA code; document current-state logic and data flows for migration planning.
- Work with and update existing legacy SSIS packages to support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) as part of the migration effort; identify and resolve issues in current package logic.
- Develop and execute data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance procedures to ensure completeness and accuracy of migrated data.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to re-engineer Access-based workflows into scalable .NET or web-based replacements.
- Support end users during transition, providing documentation, training materials, and hands-on assistance as legacy systems are decommissioned.
Additional Requirements Must be available to work on weekends as necessary to perform database migrations and minimize impact to business operations. 2-4 weekend days per month through November 2026. Competencies

Experience and Skills
- 5+ years’ experience developing or working with Access applications
- Knowledge of programming best practice and procedures
- Experience with .NET framework
- Ability to program in multiple languages such as VB,VBA, C#,
- Proficient Knowledge of SQL and relational database systems (T-SQL, SSIS)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Access front-end development, including forms, queries, macros, and VBA
- Experience working with and updating legacy SSIS packages, including troubleshooting, modifying existing workflows, and adapting them to support data migration efforts
- Experience with database migration projects, including schema mapping, data transformation, and cutover planning
- Strong T-SQL skills including stored procedures, views, indexes, and query optimization for migration and reporting use cases
- Familiarity with data quality tools and techniques: reconciliation scripts, row count comparisons, and validation testing
- Ability to document technical specifications, migration runbooks, and end-user guides
- Experience with SQL Server Agent or equivalent job scheduling for automated ETL and migration tasks (preferred)
- Working knowledge of source control (e.g., Git) and deployment practices for database and ETL code
- Experience migrating SSIS packages to cloud-based platforms such as Azure Data Factory (ADF) is a plus
