Major Accountabilities- Validate and perform accurate journal entries in a timely manner, payroll, expense provisions, travel & expense, prepaid and other records that affect GL.- Validate the configuration and execution of allocation processes to distribute expenses to the corresponding cost centers.- Validate the configuration, execution, and evaluation of the foreign exchange process to ensure a correct revaluation of balances in foreign currency.- Validate that the Accrual Engine, Exchange rate, Debit Credit process were done correctly.- Validate the preparation of an accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analysis, including analysis for balance sheet reviews.- Lead, manage and grow the GL & Payroll team in the different assigned activities.- Control and monitoring of old items in the balance sheets, as well as the cleaning and compensation of the items that make up the balances.- Ensure the correction of all records with incorrect functional areas.- Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Accounting Manual- Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues and Regional Financial Reporting and Accounting.



Communication with these stakeholders is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.- Understand impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra
- and inter-departmental transactions and activity from other functional departments.- Ensure all processes comply with Alcon standards and policies (i.e. integral processes, Alcon Accounting Manual, Alcon Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).- Ensure that blackline (Reconciliations, variations, and controls) and Smart Close activities are performed timely.- Carry out the clearing of accounts in a timely manner.- Ensure correct registration for payroll operations.- Check that the payroll clearing account and social contributions remain at 0 when applicable, and if not, investigate the differences.- Ensure the reasonableness of payroll accounts by cost center- Check that the supporting documentation of the JEs to be approved is of good quality.
