Descripción
Position Objective
Ensure product quality and process reliability across welding, fabrication, and paint operations within a heavy equipment manufacturing environment. This position will be responsible for driving process improvements, reducing quality defects, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring consistent product quality through a hands-on approach on the production floor.
The idóneo candidate is a self-driven Quality Engineer capable of working independently, identifying opportunities for improvement, and delivering measurable results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a lean organizational structure.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure quality compliance throughout welding, fabrication, and paint production processes.
Provide hands-on quality support directly on the manufacturing floor, working closely with Production and Engineering teams.
Identify process risks, quality issues, and improvement opportunities to prevent defects and improve product reliability.
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions using tools such as 8D, 5 Why’s, and Ishikawa.
Drive defect reduction initiatives focused on scrap reduction, rework elimination, and process stability.
Monitor and improve key quality indicators and manufacturing performance.
Support welding process controls, weld quality requirements, and acceptance criteria.
Ensure proper control of paint processes, including surface preparation, application defects, and final finish requirements.
Manage internal non-conformities, deviations, and corrective action follow-up.
Perform process audits and verify compliance with quality standards and engineering specifications.
Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical requirements.
Support product inspections, validation activities, and final product release.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
3–5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer within heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or metal-mechanical manufacturing environments.
Previous experience supporting welded structures, fabrication processes, and industrial equipment.
Experience with welding processes such as MIG/MAG and Flux Core.
Experience with industrial paint processes and paint quality requirements.
Proven experience reducing quality defects, scrap, and rework through effective corrective actions and process improvements.
Strong background in manufacturing process improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
Experience working directly with production teams and resolving shop floor quality issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in heavy machinery manufacturing, mining equipment, construction equipment, crushers, screeners, or similar fabricated equipment.
Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA.
Experience working with customer requirements and engineering specifications.
