We are hiring a Software Engineer, Sustaining Engineering for a remote role that will work across the Linux software stack, delivering upstream bug fixes and ensuring the reliability of Ubuntu and associated open source projects.LocationThis is a fully remote role with the team based across all time zones.ResponsibilitiesResolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source softwareMaintain close working relationships with Canonical's Field, Support, and product engineering teamsParticipate in upstream communities, developing bug fixes, backporting patches, and working with upstream for inclusionReview code produced by other engineersDemonstrate good judgement in technical methods and techniquesPrioritize work and manage time effectively against prioritiesParticipate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentationMaintain clear, technical, and concise communicationsWork from home and travel internationally up to 10% of work time for team meetings, events, and conferencesWhat we are looking for in youProfessional experience as a software engineerBackground in Computer Science, STEM, or a related fieldStrong experience with Linux and at least one of the following technologies: Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, or other cloud technologiesStrong development-level experience with Python, Go, C,
