Senior Fixed Assets Accountant | Guadalajara (Hybrid)We are seeking an exceptionally senior and highly specialized Fixed Assets Accountant to serve as the subject‐matter expert for all fixed assets, CAPEX, and lease accounting activities.
This role requires deep technical expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to operate autonomously in a complex, multi‐entity, multinational environment.
The adecuado candidate has a proven background in large corporate or multinational organizations and is comfortable owning fixed assets accounting end‐to‐end under US GAAP and IFRS.Location: Providencia, Guadalajara, Mexico (3 days per week in the office)Language: Bilingual, English and SpanishWork Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work and currently reside in MexicoRole OverviewThe Senior Fixed Assets Accountant will own the full lifecycle of fixed assets accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, leases, intercompany impacts, reconciliations, reporting, and audit support.
This role acts as a technical reference point for fixed assets and partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Tax, Operations, and external auditors.
The position requires minimal supervision and a high level of accountability and decision‐making authority.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and manage the complete fixed assets lifecycle, including CAPEX approvals, capitalization, depreciation, impairments, transfers, retirements, and disposalsServe as the primary decision‐maker for capitalization versus expense treatment in accordance with company policy, US GAAP, and IFRSMaintain and govern the fixed asset register, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and audit readinessPrepare and review monthly depreciation, amortization, and fixed asset journal entriesReconcile fixed asset sub‐ledgers to the general ledger on a monthly basis and resolve complex discrepanciesLead fixed asset roll‐forwards and supporting schedules for month‐end, quarter‐end, and year‐end closeManage accounting for leases,
including IFRS 16 / ASC 842 analysis, contract reviews, amendments, and monthly accounting entriesCoordinate and oversee physical inventories of fixed assets and investigate variancesEnsure compliance with property tax and other asset‐related tax requirements, supporting filings and audits as neededSupport internal, external, and SOX audits by preparing documentation, explanations, and technical accounting support related to fixed assets and leasesAnalyze fixed asset data to identify risks, control gaps, and opportunities for process and system improvementsDesign, maintain, and enhance internal controls over fixed assets in line with SOX or equivalent control frameworksAct as a key partner during ERP implementations, system upgrades, or process transformations related to fixed assets and CAPEXPrepare and deliver fixed assets reporting, KPIs, and ad‐hoc analysis for Finance leadership and stakeholdersStay current on changes in accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to fixed assets and lease accountingRequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field8‐10+ years of progressive experience in fixed assets accounting, CAPEX, or controlling rolesDemonstrated experience in large, complex, or multinational organizationsStrong, hands‐on knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, with specific depth in fixed assets and lease accounting (IFRS 16 / ASC 842)Proven ability to independently manage the full fixed assets function with minimal supervisionExtensive experience supporting internal, external,
