Senior Health, Safety & Environmental (EHS) Engineer – Plant Start-Up
The Senior HSE Engineer will lead all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities during the start‑up of a new manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe release of equipment, machinery, tools, processes, and facilities before production launch. The position will drive risk management, Management of Change (MOC), contractor safety, EHS management systems, and injury prevention strategies while leading Safety Technicians and supporting ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the EHS approval and release process for equipment, machinery, tools, and manufacturing processes.
Conduct and facilitate risk assessments (JSA) and implement effective risk controls.
Lead and ensure compliance with the site’s Management of Change (MOC) process.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS procedures, standards, and work instructions.
Support implementation, maintenance, and certification of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
Manage contractor safety performance during construction, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
Lead and develop Safety Technicians to ensure EHS compliance throughout startup and ramp‑up phases.
Develop and execute injury prevention strategies and critical risk reduction programs.
Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
Partner with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams to ensure operational readiness and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
6+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing environments.
Proven experience supporting plant startups, commissioning, or greenfield projects.
Experience leading equipment and process release activities.
Strong knowledge of machine safety, risk assessment methodologies, contractor safety, and EHS regulations.
Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
Experience leading technical EHS teams.
Manufacturing, automation, machinery, and painting process experience preferred.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
