Job Title Should Cost Engineer / Die Casting, Stamping, Heath Metal
Job Description We are seeking a competent engineer to develop and enhance Should Cost models, produce detailed cost breakdown reports, and implement VAVE projects. The engineer will act as SME for all manufacturing processes required for the component types and will be the trusted source for component cost and manufacturing process assessment. Responsibilities include:
Generate and update should cost models for all categories based on current business needs.
Utilize deep technical expertise on developing and calibrating models based on minimum required manufacturing processes and benchmarking data.
Establish relationships and work closely with sourcing, design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other areas to ensure assumptions and logic are correctly applied.
Design to cost – analyze, assess, and implement cost‑optimization/avoidance ideas in collaboration with R&D.;
Constantly monitor impact of global commodities to predict deflation/inflation based on cost‑model material/labor usage.
Prepare customized and detailed cost reports.
Support other CI initiative owners.
Qualifications
B. S. in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or similar.
M. S. in Engineering.
5+ years of experience working as a design engineer, production, operations, or manufacturing professional.
3+ years of experience with cost‑model software tools, specifically with a Priori; experience in creating detailed cost models for various manufacturing processes.
Strong experience and deep knowledge in manufacturing processes such as machining, forging, castings, plastic injection, sheet metal, aluminum extrusion, packaging, assembly, etc.
Strong understanding of component cost structure and finance concepts, including labor rates, machine rates, overheads, rejection %, SG&A;, and profit.
Strong data analysis and management skills; high confidence using MS Excel, Tableau, Power BI.
Ability to create scorecards and dashboards using large and constantly changing data sets.
