As a Dispersion Science Chemist, you will provide technical support for research, development, and industrialization projects. This support relates to coatings and dispersion technologies and achieves results through accomplishing laboratory testing, rheological and colorimetric analysis, method validation, and product evaluation. Contribute to the development of solutions, process improvement, and successful technology transfer to manufacturing.
You will report to Dispersion Science Laboratory Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing and validation activities for raw materials, dispersions, formulations, and finished products observing established procedures and specifications.
- Conduct coatings application and performance evaluations to support research and development projects and assess product performance against technical requirements.
- Operate rheological testing equipment to characterize the physical properties of dispersions and coatings, and analyze test results to support product development.
- Use color measurement instruments and apply basic colorimetry principles to evaluate color performance and ensure accuracy and consistency of data.
- Support research and development projects in Dispersion Science, including the evaluation of new technologies, raw materials, and advanced color solutions.
- Participate in digitalization and smart dispersion projects, contributing to the implementation of technologies that enhance laboratory efficiency and data management.
- Plan, accomplish, and document laboratory trials and experiments, generating technical data that supports the development of new test methods, work instructions, and best practices.
- Support product industrialization and technology transfer activities, collaborating with manufacturing and technical teams to ensure successful implementation of new products and processes.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to support activities, process optimization, continuous improvement projects,
and reduction of process variability.
- Prepare technical reports and monitor goals, ensuring accurate documentation of results, communication of findings, support for project goals.
- Follow laboratory safety, quality, and standardization requirements.
- Collaborate with teams including R&D;, Manufacturing, Quality, and Technical Service.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with calibration and maintenance procedures.
- Help achieve project milestones, goals, and customer need through reliable and high-quality technical contributions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 0–3 years of laboratory experience in coatings, dispersions, polymers, pigments, chemicals, or product development environments (internship, co‑op, or academic research experience is acceptable).
- Knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and analytical equipment, with the ability to follow standard operating procedures, validate methods, and produce reliable technical data.
- 1+ years of experience with coatings formulation, dispersion science, rheology, and colorimetry, including experience using laboratory instruments for product characterization and performance evaluation.
- Knowledge of quality systems, methodologies, statistics, and continuous improvement principles, with familiarity in Lean Manufacturing.
- Fluent English.
- Work in site.
