Linux Systems Engineer | Large US Hedge Fund

What You'll Do

- Operate & Scale: Manage core Linux servers and shared infrastructure powering our top-tier research and platform teams.
- Troubleshoot & Resolve: Diagnose production bottlenecks across system performance, availability, network connectivity, and access configurations.
- Container & Cluster Mastery: Support Kubernetes platforms and scheduler-backed compute environments (such as Slurm) ensuring optimal node health and incident recovery.
- Modernize Access: Elevate user-facing Linux access services including SSH, shared shell environments, and session platforms.
- Lifecycle & Hardening: Drive OS provisioning, patching, kernel/package updates, and rigorous security hardening.
- Automate Everything: Build clean automation and scripts in Python or Bash to eliminate manual toil.
- Infrastructure as Code: Implement safe, version-controlled infrastructure changes using Git and configuration management tools.

What We're Looking For (Mandatory Skills)





- 7+ years of hands-on experience in Linux systems engineering, SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure support.
- Deep Linux Administration: Mastery over systemd, package management, file permissions, filesystems, and low-level log analysis.
- Networking Fundamentals: Solid grasp of DNS, NTP/PTP, routing, and host connectivity.
- Container & Cluster Familiarity: Experience with Kubernetes, virtualization, or clustered platforms.
- Config Management: Practical experience with tools like Ansible, Salt, or Terraform.
- Methodical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with a high sense of ownership and calm under pressure during incidents.
- Experience with Slurm, HPC-style environments, or GPU infrastructure.
- Familiarity with shared storage clients like NFS, autofs, or GPFS / IBM Storage Scale.
- Observability chops using Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to identity and access services (LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD, PAM).
- On-premises datacenter operations or hardware lifecycle support.
- Interest in leveraging AI/ML techniques for infrastructure optimization and anomaly detection!
- Work at the intersection of high finance and high-performance computing.
