**Responsibilities**:
We are seeking a **QA Architect**to lead the testing strategy and quality direction for a major IDP migration effort.
This role requires deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to think holistically about **how systems evolve over time**.
You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, product, and security teams to ensure our migration and modernization efforts are executed with **mínimal risk**, high reliability, and clarity of testing approach.
You will not only guide what needs to be tested, but also why and how, ensuring test architecture, tooling, data flows, and CI/CD processes support the long-term direction of the platform.
This includes shaping test frameworks, leading testing strategy across multiple teams, and mentoring engineers to elevate quality practices at scale.
**Responsibilities**:
- Define and lead the **end-to-end test strategy** for a phased platform migration, ensuring clarity on the current state, target state, and transition approach.
- Architect **scalable and reusable** test automation frameworks (component, integration, end-to-end, API, and performance).
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to determine **what tests need to be built, what needs to coexist, and where risk is highest.
**
- Work closely with teams involved in** IDP migration** (e.g., Okta Auth0), ensuring test coverage accounts for user action flows and identity management behavior.
- Ensure test automation supports and** is fully integrated into CI/CD workflows** (GitHub Actions).
- Guide testing related to **data migration**, ensuring validation of behavior, state, and compatibility across existing and new systems.
- Support testing for **SOCKS-relevant** connectivity to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Partner with platform and DevOps teams on testing implications related to **AWS**, **Kubernetes/AKS,** and environment configuration.
- Lead migration risk discussions: determine what changes now, what remains, and how to reduce disruption.
- Provide architectural direction for automation tooling (e.g., **Playwright**, API test frameworks).
- Mentor and advise a **Quality Engineering organization** individuals, elevating testing maturity and technical capability.
- Measure and report test automation metrics, including code, function, and test case coverage.
- Operate autonomously, even within a loosely-defined scope.
- Require very little oversight beyond high level direction.
- Show initiative beyond knocking tasks off a list and able to identify their own areas of future work for themselves and their team.
- Work effectively within a team environment, to regularly solicit and act on feedback, focus on root causes, and continually strive to improve.
- Review code throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Create tools that can be used by others.
- Take part in software design discussions and planning discussions.
**Qualifications**:
- ** 7+ years of experience** in Software Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or Software Engineering roles, with significant experience guiding test strategy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment with short turn-around times.
- Demonstrated ownership of** test architecture** for large-scale system migrations or modernization projects.
- ** Good understanding of Service Oriented Architecture.

- ** Experience with client-side performance optimization, security, and accessibility.

- Strong experience designing and implementing** test frameworks**(Playwright or similar UI/API automation tools).
- Engineering practices such as refactoring, TDD, pair programming, and code reviews.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and how authentication dependencies influence automated testing.
- Experience working with **authentication identity providers**, ideally authentication migrations (e.g., **Okta Auth0**).
- Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with **MySQL and PostgreSQL.
**
- Familiarity with cloud and orchestration environments such as **AWS** and **Kubernetes / AKS.
**
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills — able to work closely with product, engineering, and platform teams.
- Strong ability to prioritize based on **risk**, impact, and business milestones.
- Experience working in **Agile environments** and guiding multiple teams on testing best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Well-versed in programming languages (Ruby/Rails, Javascript, Go, or Python).
