Responsible for:Supporting the release and validation of electrical components (wire harnesses) for regular production, ensuring all technical, manufacturing, quality, cost, weight, and validation requirements are achieved.
The role serves as a key link between design engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams to successfully release components into production.Main Responsibilities and Activities:Design, validation, and execution of assigned wire harness and cable assemblies, including all sub-components.Design, integration of the assigned harnesses/cables within the vehicle architectureProvide direction to UG DesignersMeet program deliverables and imperatives per the PDS PDT Key Task Scheduler.Execute root cause and problem resolution of vehicle or component development or validation issues.Understand Electrical Schematics and systems interaction to other devices trough ICDe processSet priority and urgency for Engineering Change Requests, Problem Resolution, and Development / Validation PlansComplete warranty reduction efforts on current product programsSupport all virtual and physical build eventsTravel as requiredInterface with Lead DRE and Technical Specialists on design directionLeads discussions with program teams on design and execution in leadership forumsProvides complexity & cost reduction ideas as a direct interface with marketing, program management, purchasing and suppliersExpected to optimize a comprehensive and detailed plan to validate the assigned component to its technical requirements.Facilitates validation coordination with supplier validation representatives within the PDT meeting.Track the execution of component hardware validation and facilitate approval with SMEs as neededDocuments test failures in PRTSEnsures DV and PV are completed on time to the validation milestonesEnsures all test documentation is completed by Validation Documentation Complete milestone and completes validation action plan or **** in support of launch.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related technical field.Advanced English proficiency0-3 years of professional experience in engineering or product development environments.Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and engineering validation methodologies.Understanding of 3D spatial design concepts and digital model interpretation.Familiarity with manufacturing processes.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience with automotive component release and validation processes.Experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.Knowledge of component cost and mass optimization methodologies.Experience supporting product development, validation, and launch activities.Proficiency with NX CAD software.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Familiarity with AI-enabled engineering or productivity tools.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Demonstrated creativity in problem-solving and engineering decision-making.Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and processes.General Motors is committed to being a workplace that is not only free of unlawful discrimination, but one that genuinely fosters inclusion and belonging.
