New Product Introduction (NPI)
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Product Development and Design Support**:
- Collaborate with design and development teams to provide manufacturing input during the product design phase to ensure designs are production-ready (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly - DFMA).
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) for accuracy and suitability.
- **Process Development and Validation**:
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to support new product introduction.
- Create and document work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct validation/verification of tools, fixtures, equipment, and processes.
- **Prototyping and Pilot Builds**:
- Oversee the prototyping process and initial builds of new products.
- Lead engineering builds and provide comprehensive feedback to improve production processes and product design.
- Analyze prototype results and identify areas for refinement.
- **Project Management**:
- Manage the end-to-end NPI process, ensuring product timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate activities between various departments including design, operations, and supply chain teams.
- Track NPI project milestones and communicate progress to stakeholders.
- **Manufacturing Readiness**:
- Drive production readiness by working closely with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from engineering to production.
- Identify and mitigate risks during the pre-production and ramp-up phases.
- Ensure all tooling, fixtures, and infrastructure are in place to support full-scale production.
- **Supplier and Vendor Integration**:
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure suppliers and vendors meet the specifications and requirements for new products.
- Work with external suppliers to ensure components and materials are sourced on time and meet quality standards.
- **Quality Assurance**:
- Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and root cause investigations during the introduction process.
- Implement strategies to minimize potential production risks and defects.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- **Experience**:
- 2 years of experience in NPI, product development, or manufacturing engineering.
- Hands-on experience with process improvements, prototyping, and working in a fast-paced production environment.
