Role Overview:
The 2D Animator is responsible for creating motion graphics, characters, environments, and effects using 2D animation techniques. They work closely with directors, designers, and production teams to ensure that animations align with the artistic vision of the project. The animator must have a strong grasp of design principles, animation software, and storytelling techniques to produce visually compelling content.
The 2D animation producers are responsible for taking the written scripts and turning them into written storyboarding, creating character and other props, animatics, sourcing stock footage and overall responsibility over the design and development of the 2D animation videos through to sign off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Animation Production:
- Create 2D animations for digital media.
- Animate characters, objects, and backgrounds based on storyboards, scripts, and production requirements.
- Bring creative concepts to life by utilizing hand-drawn or digital animation techniques.
- Storyboarding & Pre-Visualization:
- Collaborate with directors and artists to develop storyboards, rough sketches, or animatics to outline animation sequences.
- Visualize key animation scenes and ensure that they meet the storytelling and visual direction of the project.
- Character Design & Animation:
- Develop expressive characters, ensuring that their movements, facial expressions, and actions are fluid and consistent.
- Animate character interactions in a way that conveys emotions and enhances the storyline.
- Design & Illustration:
- Create and refine 2D art elements such as backgrounds, props, and effects.
- Ensure that all designs align with the overall artistic direction and visual style of the project.
- Collaboration & Feedback:
- Work closely with other animators, designers, and production teams to deliver high-quality animation.
- Revise animations based on feedback from directors, producers, or clients to ensure the final product meets expectations.
- Timing & Pacing:




- Manage timing and pacing of animations to ensure smooth transitions, realistic movement, and synchronization with audio elements.
- Adjust frame rates, keyframes, and timing to meet the flow and rhythm of the project.
- Software Proficiency:
- Utilize animation and graphic design software such as Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, After Effects, Photoshop, or other tools to create high-quality 2D animations.
- Stay up to date with the latest animation software and technologies to continually improve production processes.
- Project Management:
- Organize and manage animation files, ensuring that all assets are properly stored and accessible to the production team.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in animation, fine arts, graphic design, or a related field.
- Equivalent work experience in the industry may also be considered.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a 2D animator in film, television, video games, or advertising.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating 2D animation skills.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in 2D animation software (Adobe Animate, Toon Boom, etc.).
- Strong drawing, illustration, and design skills.
- Understanding of animation principles (e.g., squash and stretch, anticipation, timing).
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic understanding of story structure, pacing, and character development.

- Animation quality: Ensuring that animations are smooth, engaging, and meet the project's visual standards.
- Creativity: Developing innovative and original animations that enhance the story and visual appeal.
- Project deadlines: Consistently delivering work on time without compromising quality.
- Feedback implementation: Ability to make revisions effectively based on team or client feedback.
Pay: $8,000.00 - $20,000.00 per month
