Under supervision, works on various moderately complex tasks of an engineering project. This includes activities such as: performing engineering analysis (e.g. competitive, failure modes and effects, cost, manufacturing technology, etc.), component design, specification verification testing, manufacturing implementation, and occasionally, field support. May also manage small to medium projects from start to finish. Continually assists in proposing innovative product features. Aware of some of the latest external technical trends within their field.
Applies technical expertise most commonly within a single discipline (e.g. mechanical, electronics, software/firmware, materials science, optics, etc) but also has a basic appreciation of the multidisciplinary nature of complex systems and/or high-volume manufacturing. Delivers expertise in a manner conducive to integration and manufacturing.
Leverages strong communication skills to build working relationships both within the team and across the company. May be known internally as skilled in their discipline or in a technology.
