Nature and scope
The STE acts as a liaison between internal customers at all levels including operations leadership, engineering, NPI and aftermarket teams, as well as external supplier contact.
This position provides leadership in resolution of quality problems associated with the purchased materials.
Acts as a technical liaison between external suppliers and internal customers through various methods, including supplier site visits.
This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager for Turbotec Supply Chain Value Stream.
The STE is a technical resource for the Supply Chain and acts as a mentor and technical lead.
Principal accountabilities:
This position provides leadership in resolution of quality problems associated with the purchase materials and engineering issues. R
responsible for concept drawing communication of concept with supplier, design/drawing review and acceptance, Windchll activities (Drawing finalized), perform BAAN functions, tooling management, Q notes, etc. Acts as a technical liaison between external suppliers and internal customers through various methods, including supplier site visits.
Participates in the development of supplier quality metrics and the monthly gathering of measurements and presents in several forums as needed.



Reviews analyzes and reports supplier quality performance data and trends, Is the focal point of RN (Reject Notices) resolution, Initiates root cause analysis and implements supplier corrective and preventative action plans.
The Supplier Technical Engineer will participate in ad may lead projects on cross-functional teams utilizing 6 sigma tools, to Solar’s strategic objectives.
Participates in continuous process improvement and warranty cost recovery related to supplier quality, including recovery of line stop and rework charge analysis.
Collaborates with Sourcing Specialist, Procurement Specialist and Supply Chain Coordinator to improve supplier cost, quality and throughput.
Leads the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) ad develops the FAPITIP (First Article Production Inspection Test Plan) with input from Desing Engineering, Identifies and provides input to the Procurement Specialist for the purchase of supplier tooling.
Skills required
This position requires an engineering background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies and knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures.
Familiarity with engineering practices & process planning (interpretation of drawings, tooling concepts, NDT, functional test, etc. also technical product knowledge (including metallurgy)
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles as applied by Solar and our suppliers.




Knowledge of supplier selection process, quality management systems.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering at least 7-10 years, Masters Degree 5-7 years with MS.
At least 5 years experience as an SQA, QAE or ME.
