**Job Description - Backend Lead**
**Location**: Onsite (Preferred Location - Morelia. Other Location - Mexico City, Guadalajara)
**Language Requirement**: Native/Fluent Spanish with good English skills
**Position Overview**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the backend engineering track, providing technical direction and mentorship to development teams.
- Define and implement the backend modernization roadmap in alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Ensure backend architectures meet non-functional requirements: scalability, performance, availability, and security.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architect, Frontend Lead, and DevOps Lead to align backend solutions with enterprise architecture standards.
- Conduct code reviews, technical assessments, and optimization exercises for critical backend services.
- Provide input into governance processes, ensuring compliance with best practices and coding standards.
**Required Skills & Experience**
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in a backend leadership role.




- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot (primary backend stack).
- Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Kafka, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong database expertise (SQL and NoSQL - DynamoDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Solid understanding of software design patterns and principles (OOP, SOLID, clean architecture).
- Cloud deployment knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP) with focus on scalability and high availability.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with focus on performance optimization.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (Spanish/English bilingual preferred).
**Good to Have**
- Experience with.NET Core or Node.js in enterprise environments.
- Exposure to container orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $550.00 - $600.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
