**Type: Full Time (Remote)**
**Position Summary**:
Key Responsibilities
- Post insurance payments, patient payments, adjustments, and write-offs to the appropriate patient accounts from electronic remittance advice (ERA/835 files), explanation of benefits (EOBs), lockbox files, and patient-pay sources.
- Reconcile daily deposits, batches, and posted totals to bank and clearinghouse reports, ensuring all funds are accounted for and balanced.
- Identify, research, and resolve unapplied cash, misapplied payments, and posting discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Accurately post contractual adjustments and denials using correct reason and remark codes (CARC/RARC), routing denied and underpaid claims to the appropriate follow-up team.
- Process patient refunds, credit balances, and payment transfers according to established policies.
- Work electronic remittance exceptions and manual posting queues, escalating unusual trends or recurring payer issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain productivity and accuracy standards while meeting daily and monthly close deadlines.
- Ensure all activity complies with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and internal controls, safeguarding protected health information (PHI) at all times.
- Document posting activity clearly and maintain organized records for audit and reconciliation purposes.
- Collaborate with billing, cash management, and A/R follow-up teams to support accurate account resolution.
**Qualifications**
**Required**:




- 1-3 years of payment posting, cash posting, or medical billing experience in a healthcare or revenue cycle setting.
- Working knowledge of EOBs, ERAs/835 files, CARC/RARC codes, and insurance reimbursement processes.
- Familiarity with commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payer remittances.
- Strong 10-key data entry skills with high accuracy.
- Proficiency with practice management or hospital billing systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid understanding of HIPAA and PHI handling requirements.
**Preferred**:
- Experience with a major EHR/PM system (e.g., Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, NextGen, or similar).
- Understanding of the full revenue cycle and denial management workflows.
- Prior experience working in a fully remote environment.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to reconcile and balance numbers independently.
- Effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines with mínimal supervision.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving mindset for researching and resolving discrepancies.
**Remote Work Requirements**:
- Maintain a private, secure, HIPAA-compliant home workspace free from unauthorized access to PHI.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection meeting company specifications.
- Availability to work core business hours in the assigned time zone (MST).
Pay: $17,000.00 - $21,000.00 per month
