Job Description
Role Summary/Purpose
The Quality Leader develops and maintains systems, rules, and processes to ensure fulfillment of internal and external requirements and that projects and products are capable and will meet specified standards and specifications. In this role you will require understanding of concepts, methods and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:
Utilize Business Process Management Systems (e.g. Quality Management Systems, Integrated Management Systems)
Control and monitor the plant’s processes and programs to ensure compliance with all QMS requirements and relevant product and customer specifications.
Work to develop, implement, and monitor overall process mapping for quality improvement purposes.
Standardize processes, tools and performance management systems
Resolve problems through the application of acquired expertise working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Communicate, support and integrate with direct reports, manager, and local operations leadership to be able to present on metrics, project status and issue analyses.
Identify process risks, implement appropriate control plans and preventive measures, and execute process audits, to ensure effective process control and documented evidence.
Lead responsiveness – with a sense of curiosity and urgency - on customer quality and reliability related issues
Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and the Commercial team to identify areas for focused product / process improvement actions and ensure those actions are implemented in a timely fashion and in an effective and sustainable manner
Meet Quality related financial objectives including estimating financial impacts and needs, preparing annual budgets, managing capital expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating appropriate corrective actions
Develop business metrics to accurately reflect performance and to effectively drive accountability
Collect, analyze and summarize performance data to drive improvement actions as appropriate
Coordinate business updates on emerging issues and actions for closure.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in quality, engineering and / or project management)
5+ Years in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
Critical thinker who is skilled in problem solving
Proven track record of success in a self-directed work environment
Ability to work independently
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor's degree in a technical field
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Previous MFG Quality Leadership experience
Previously managed salaried direct reports
Strong customer focus, able to relay and operationalize a genuine sense of urgency
Experience with software systems including Reliance (QMS), Proficy (MES), AutoCAD, Visio, Minitab, and other Wabtec supply chain quality and operational data sources
Knowledge of ISO/AAR standards, quality procedures, and audit techniques; certified/qualified auditor
Experience with welding, assembly, electrical, and test processes, including ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
