**Description**:
A Sr.
Data Analyst role within an Industry 4.0 environment focuses heavily on leveraging data from interconnected systems, sensors, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to drive automation, efficiency, and smart decision-making, primarily in sectors like manufacturing and supply chain.
A Data Analyst combines industrial data analytics with business requirements management to improve efficiency, reduce failures, and optimize processes in highly automated production environments.
**Key Responsibilities**:
In addition to core data analyst duties (collecting, cleaning, and interpreting data), an Industry 4.0 data analyst's responsibilities include:
- Real-time Monitoring & Analysis: Collecting and analyzing vast amounts of real-time data from embedded sensors and interconnected machinery on the factory floor or across the supply chain.
- Predictive Maintenance: Using data analytics and machine learning to predict equipment failures before they occur, scheduling proactive maintenance to minimize costly downtime.
- Process Optimization: Identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies in production workflows, supply chains, or operations using comprehensive data analysis to recommend and implement improvements.
Perform root-cause analysis to identify recurring issues and propose data-driven solutions.
- Quality Control: Implementing advanced algorithms to analyze production data and detect defects in real-time, ensuring consistent product quality and reducing waste.
- Smart Factory Integration: Working closely with operations and IT teams to ensure seamless data flow between factory assets, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and other business management software.
- Digital Twin Support: Contributing to the creation and maintenance of a "digital twin" (a complete digital representation of physical operations)
to simulate scenarios and optimize performance.
- Automation Support: Providing data insights that help automate production management, reducing the need for human intervention in routine tasks.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and validate results
**Skills, Knowledge & Expertise**:
A data analyst in this field needs a strong blend of traditional data skills and specific industry knowledge:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Data Science, IT, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, software development, QA, or business analysis, with at least 4 years in manufacturing environments
- Proficiency in programming languages like SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) for storing and processing large datasets.
- Expertise in data visualization tools like Tableau or Microsoft Power BI to present complex findings as clear, interactive dashboards.
- Familiarity with IoT platforms and data collection systems from industrial sensors and with automation systems (PLC, OPC UA, sensors).
- Willingness to learn MES architecture and manufacturing operations management principles
- Strong statistical analysis and mathematical modeling abilities.
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and business recommendations.
- Problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical data and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., factory floor managers, executives).
- Strong collaboration and team-working skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- An understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and ethics in an industrial context.
- Good writing skills for formal documentation, especially business requirements.
