The Cost Accountant Manager plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial information. This position is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial reports to support business decision-making,
while partnering closely with the Plant Controller and Finance Director. The Cost Accountant Manager will lead cost accounting activities, inventory controls, financial analysis, and month-end closing processes in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze weekly inventory and Purchase Price Variance (PPV) reports.
- Develop quarterly excess and obsolete inventory reserve analyses.
- Review and approve inventory adjustments related to discrepancies, engineering changes, obsolescence, and other inventory-related transactions.
- Authorize the appropriate use of general ledger accounts for manual journal entries.
- Support the review and financial impact analysis of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Prepare, review, and analyze month-end journal entries.
- Consolidate, analyze, and explain financial results during the monthly closing process.
- Lead the preparation and consolidation of annual standard costs.
- Monitor, analyze, and control manufacturing costs to ensure operational efficiency.
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Oversee inventory adjustments, cycle count programs, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Perform monthly indirect material cost adjustments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date departmental documentation.
- Actively participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, training sessions, and initiatives.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, spills, fires, or illnesses, regardless of severity.
- Ensure full compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance and/or accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency with the ability to communicate effectively in meetings and written correspondence.
